To manufacture a surface decorated blockboard with extra-low formaldehyde emissions, the authors selected no-added formaldehyde(NAF) blockboards as substrate materials and E0 level impregnated papers as surface decorative materials. Effects of hot-pressing time and temperature on formaldehyde emissions from the samples were analyzed.The results indicated that extending hot-pressing time or increasing temperature had little effect on the formaldehyde emissions and that it was almost impossible to further reduce formaldehyde emissions from the samples to zero-emission level by hot pressing.
