The authors evaluated the temperature effect on preservative leaching from preservative-treated fast-grown Masson’s Pine(Pinus massoniana) to optimize the drying process. After being dried at various temperatures(70,80,and 90 ℃),the specimens were separated into three groups to conduct leaching tests with durations of 0,7 and 14 days, respectively. The percentages of copper leached from the specimens were evaluated. The results indicated that the wood dried at high temperature leached more copper than that dried at lower temperature. It was recommended that the drying temperature should not exceed 70 ℃ for preservative-treated fast-grown Pinus massonian to obtain the highest preservative retention level.
