In order to investigate the feasibility of recycling waste MDF products, the authors conducted an experiment to examine some selected physical characteristics of fibers from recycled MDF and compared it to the fresh fibers from an existing MDF mill. The results showed that the recycled fiber was shorter than the fresh fiber, and its surface was partially covered by a thin layer of urea formaldehyde resin. The differences in morphology and appearance between the two different fibers were not so prominent as to have any negative impact on the reuse of the recycled fibers. However, further research on MDF performance made from the recycled fibers is needed.
