The authors investigated the applicability of sliced bamboo veneer, as a kind of decorative material and substitution for precious wood materials, to MDF. Results showed that the appearance of MDF could be improved dramatically by overlaying a sliced bamboo veneer on both its top and bottom surface. The optimum parameters of the overlaying technology were determined. It was also found that lining a nonwoven fabric on sliced bamboo veneer would result in decreased surface bond strength for the bamboo veneer overlaid MDF.
