He Dinghua. A Study on Technological Conditions for Jet Drying of Paulownia elongata veneer[J]. China Wood Industry, 1988,(1):7-14. DOI: 10.19455/j.mcgy.1988.01.002.
Paulownia elongata veneers were dried in a laboratory jet dryer at different temperatures (100 to 250℃, 4 steps) and jet velocities (5 to 20 m/s, 4 steps). The empirical equations of drying rate and the drying rate coefficent for veneer of 1, 2 mm thickness were obtainded. The production capabilities of dryer and drying costs at different temperatures and jet vilocities were predicted with the equations obtainded. The results indicate that the production capability of dryer could be increased and the drying cost reduced, with higher temperature, and the production capability is also increased with higher velocity. However the drying cost would be increased if the velocity is too high or too low. The optimum jet velocity could be determined with equations obtained and the actual level of cost eonpoments at the factory. An approach for the prevention of Paulownia veneer from discoloration was proposed.
