摘要:Light wood trusses are important structural components in light wood frame construction.Formation and nonlinear behavior of truss plate joints were taken into consideration to develop a finite element (FE) model for the light wood trusses. The FE model was validated by comparing predicted results with testing results and then used to predict structural behavior of light wood frame trusses with other configurations such as load patterns, truss heights and truss formations. The FE model was easy to learn and showed good accuracy. The FE modeling method could contribute to further investigation of structural behavior of light wood trusses.
摘要:The authors calculated and analyzed different mat pressing response times in continuous presses by a hydraulic servo control valve and an electromagnetic ball valve combined with fixed orifice,respectively. Therefore, suggestions for selecting hydraulic control valves for continuous presses in wood-based panel production lines with different speeds were presented.

摘要:The authors made scrimber samples with impregnated veneer at different open assembly times (10 d, 30 d, 90 d) after re-drying to evaluate how open assembly time affected the properties of the scrimber samples. The results showed that when the open assembly time was extended, molecular weights of PF resin applied to the veneers were increased. Thickness and width swelling values of the samples increased significantly while water resistance decreased. No significant effects on their mechanical properties were observed.
摘要:A flame retardant amino resin for surface coating of wood materials was developed, including ammonium polyphosphate (APP), pentaerythritol (PER) and melamine-urea-formaldehyde resin (MUF),which was applied to medium density fiberboard (MDF) samples. Effects of components and coating weights of the flame retardants amino resins on fire retardant performance of the board samples were evaluated. The results showed that: 1) A charcoal layer was formed when the flame retardant amino resin was heated, resulting in a prolonged ignition time as well as decreased heat release rate (HRR) and total heat release (THR) of the board samples. 2) Flame retardant performance improved when flame retardant usage and coating weights increased. 3) Compared to traditional fire retardant technology, the surface coating flame retardant technology could reduce consumption of the flame retardants by 1/6 and fire growth index (FGI) could be decreased by 94.7%.
摘要:The authors selected nano-TiO2 and ultraviolet absorbents to modify a UV-curing ink used for printing decorative papers. The ink properties were tested to evaluate effects of the modifiers on the ink.The results showed that after modification by nano-TiO2 or ultraviolet absorbent, the UV ink was stable with reduced average particle sizes and viscosity as well as enhanced absorbance in the ultraviolet region.Therefore, optimum parameters for modification of the UV ink was 1.0% of TiO2 or 1.5% of ultraviolet absorbent.
摘要:Based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), environmental impacts of oriented strand board (OSB) produced by a Chinese company and a European company were evaluated, respectively. Results showed that the Chinese OSB products consumed more non-renewable energy resources while the European OSB products consumed much cleaner energy resources like natural gases. The CO2 emissions between the two OSB companies were about the same during production. The environmental potential values for acidification, eutrophication and global warming of the Chinese OSB products were higher than those of the European OSB products, but the Chinese OSB products had less impact on ozone depletion and photochemical smog.
摘要:Based on an analysis of damage forms of wood-roof structures built in the 1950 s, the authors proposed reinforcing methods for the damaged structures. Finite element analysis was applied to evaluate bearing capacity of the reinforced structures. According to the analyses, weak positions of the structures could be found.

摘要:A laboratory simulation method was used to evaluate the film whitening of Polyurethane resin paint (PU) and Polyester resin paint (PE) wood furniture lacquer. Impacts of colorant, film thickness, air humidity, veneer moisture content and veneer surface roughness on film whitening were analyzed and discussed. The results showed that whitening was mainly caused by colorant dilution, primer film thickness, air humidity, veneer moisture content and veneer surface roughness.
摘要:Coating efficiency of wooden door samples conducted by normal spraying guns and electrostatic spraying guns were compared. Testing results showed that coating efficiency of the door leaf by manual electrostatic spraying increased from 61.7% to 76.7% compared with the control, and even to84.5% when a ground conductive plate was used on the door back. The coating efficiency of door frame samples by manual electrostatic spraying also increased from 52.7% to 69.7%, compared with the control.
摘要:In order to investigate effect of caul plate gloss on glossiness of high-gloss laminate flooring,high-gloss laminate floor samples were prepared with caul plates having different gloss levels.Roughnesses and atomic force microscope (AFM) images of the samples were observed. Results showed that the roughness of the samples increased and the gloss decreased as the caul plate gloss decreased;3D-AFM images of the samples indicated that the glosses of the samples were closely related to caul plate gloss. Dents and protrusions on the sample’s surface occurred when caul plates with lower gloss were used and also resulted in a poor gloss surface on the flooring samples.
摘要:A new kind of engineered wood flooring substrate was developed made from plantation poplar and eucalyptus veneers as face layers and eucalyptus wood strips as core materials. Dimensional stability of the substrate was compared with that of three-layer parquet and multi-layer engineered wood flooring made from poplar and eucalyptus veneers. The results showed that the new substrate had less moisture absorption and swelling rate as well as less warping than the controls. Optimum structure of the new substrate was obtained when the substrate was composed of eucalyptus veneers as the face layer,eucalyptus wood strips as the core layer, and popular veneers as the back layer and edge-glued longitudinally with 2.5 mm×16 mm eucalyptus wood strips.
