Veneer overlaying on the surface of wood-plastic composite materials is an effective method to enhance solid wood appearance and improve its decorative performance. To solve the problem in the surface bonding of polyethylene-based wood-plastic composites(WF/PE), two thermoplastic resins were selected as bonding materials, and the two separate pressing process was used for veneer processing. The appearance qualities, surface bonding strengths and immersion peeling length of composite panels were tested. It was found that the best performance was achieved by using MAPE film as a bonding material under subsection hot-press time of 160 seconds plus 60 seconds, under the press temperature of 150 ℃ and the press pressure of 1.5 MPa. The SEM characterization showed that the MAPE film as a bridge promoted the formation a firm interface between veneer and WF/PE composites substrates.
