Native oriental oak(Quercus variabilis) lumber with 25 mm of a nominal thickness was dried in a conventional kiln. The drying schedule was evaluated. According to China national standard of Drying Quality of Sawn Timber, the drying rate, the final moisture content, the deviation of moisture content in thickness, the residual stress and drying quality of the samples were measured. The results showed that the optimal drying time was 19.5 days and 0.096%/h of the average drying rate. The deviation of moisture content in thickness met the 1,st, grade requirements of China national standard, and the final moisture content and the residual stress met the 2,nd, grade requirements. The overall drying quality of native oriental oak lumber met the 2,nd, grade of China national standard GB/T 6491-2012.
