Poplar(Populus spp.) wood is widely used in wood processing industry in China. Fire and explosion hazards caused by wood dusts were paid high attention in recent years. Minimum ignition temperature of dust cloud(MITC) and minimum ignition temperature of dust layer(MITL) are two very important factors in production safety. In this study, poplar wood dusts in glulam manufacturing were collected for evaluation of MITC and MITL of the poplar wood. The results showed that: 1) the MITC decreased first and then increased with increase of dust concentration(from 227 g/m,3, to 2 273 g/m,3,) at 8% of moisture content, and increased with increase of dust particle sizes(from 48 μu to 200 μm). 2) The MITL was affected by moisture content of dust particles and dust layer thickness with little effect by dust particle sizes. 3) the MITC and MITL of poplar wood dusts were 415 ℃ and 260 ℃, separately.
