In order to provide a theoretical basis for designing and processing perforated medium density fiberboard(perforated MDF)for sound absorption, the effects of hole diameter, perforation rate and cavity depth behind the perforated MDF were evaluated by impedance-tube transfer function method.Under the following optimum conditions, such as 15 mm thickness,3.14%,4,.91% perforation rate and 50 mm cavity depth behind the perforated MDF,the maximum sound absorption coefficient for perforated MDF could reach 0.6.
