The authors examined the effects of three different sawing procedures on the deformation of two hardwood logs（Schima superba and European beech） to improve lumber quality and utilization efficiency.They found that through-and-through sawing resulted in the best results for medium diameter logs.They also found the saw-dry-rip method improved dimensional stability for flatsawn boards ripped from the width direction and quartersawn boards ripped from the thickness direction.
