The authors modified a conventional drying schedule for 60 mm thick Liquidambar formosana lumber to improve the drying speed.The modified schedule included three steps: pre-heating lumber under high temperature,lowing the temperature,then drying the lumber under a constant temperature.Compared with the conventional drying schedule,the modified one saves nearly 12 days when drying 60 mm thick Liquidambar formosana lumber from initial moisture content of 100% to a final 12%.The dried lumber quality was also improved.
