Understanding wood behavior under load is important to safely and effectively use wood members in wood structures.This paper reviewed foreign research on the duration of load（DOL） effects on wood and wood-based products.The related foreign standards on testing DOL wood behavior were also summarized.The authors analyzed the differences between the foreign and Chinese DOL factors.They also recommend that more research on DOL effects should be performed to develop relative standards for Chinese wood and wood-based products.
