The authors of this paper conducted an experiment to investigate discoloration of polyurethane and acrylic coated veneers to improve the lightfastness of paint coated wood.Scots pine and poplar veneers were selected and coated by two methods(direct painting and covering with a coated film). The coated veneers were exposed under a Xenon-lamp attenuation instrument for an accelerated test. The results showed the color change trend of coated veneers of both species was similar. However, the aberration of the paint coated veneer was higher than that of the veneers covered with coated films.
