Eucalyptus and poplar plantations, over 4.8×106 hm2,play a very import role in the raw material supply chain in China’s wood panel industry.A literature search found that research on utilizing these fast growing trees to manufacture structural plywood was limited. In this study, the authors investigated the effect of selected processing factors(pressing temperature, pressing time, pressing pressure, and adhesive usage) on the bonding strength of structural plywood panels made from mixed Eucalyptus/poplar veneer. The results showed that all the selected parameters affected significantly on the bonding strength. The optimal processing parameters for producing eucalyptus/poplar plywood panels in this study were: hot pressing temperature =135 ℃,pressing time = 1.5 min/mm,pressing pressure = 0.8 MPa,and adhesive usage = 320 g/m2.
