A plant trail of manufacturing medium density fiberboard（MDF） by using isocyanate resin in the production line was conducted in the Dongying Zhenghe Wood Industry Co.,Ltd.,Shandong,China.Compared with MDF made with commonly-used urea formaldehyde（OF） resin,the MDF panels made with isocyanate resin system demonstrated superior physical and mechanical properties.Furthermore,the average formaldehyde emission from the MDF panels made with the isocyanate resin,tested according to the National Standards GB/T 18580-2001 and Japan Standards JIS A 5905:2003,was 0.1 mg/L which is lower than the average maximum value（0.3 mg/L） required by both Chinese and Japanese standards.The low formaldehyde emission,and improved mechanical and physical properties,would add value to the MDF panels made with isocyanate resin and make them attractive for many applications.
