About 40% to 70% of total energy used for manufacturing wood products is consumed for drying wood.It is critical to increase the drying efficiency and improve drying energy consumption.A heat-pump drying system is a typical wood drying facility used in China. The objective of this study was to improve the drying system by optimizing the wind circulation. The relation between cycling-wind and energy consumption was examined in this paper. The results showed that the bypass-rate of cycling-wind had a significant effect on the specific power consumption(SPC) of a heat-pump drying system.
