Direct and indirect uses of forest resources are the two most common ways to make wood products.Direct use of forest resources to make wood products（i.e.,solid lumber） reflects nature-based factors while the indirect use of forest resources to make wood-based products（i.e.,wood composite panels） reflects human being-based and technology-based factors.Two different ways of using wood show different values of society and economy.The author thought that it was important to adopt a correct social attitude towards wood utilization.
