Better understanding of heat transfer and resin curing during hot pressing will help optimize the wood composite manufacturing process in increasing productivity and improving product quality.Electrical-thermocouples were used in this study to investigate the effects of resin application methods, resin content,hot-pressing temperature, and pressure in hot-pressing poplar laminated veneer lumber(LVL).The results indicated that during the initial pressing stage, the internal temperature increased more rapidly by using a resin impregnation method than a resin spread method. It was found that higher resin content accelerated heat penetration towards the core. However, the resin content didn’t significantly affect total hot-pressing time.
