SUN Yao-xing1, LIU Yi-xing2. Variation of Density and Shrinkage Rate of Popular Sample Compressed by Rollers[J]. China Wood Industry, 2007,(6):13-16. DOI: 10.19455/j.mcgy.2007.06.005.
The timber of Populus ussuriensis Kom.was compressed transversely by rollers under several conditions of compression ratios from 10% to 50%.Comparing the density and shrinkage rate between compressed and uncompressed samples, the results showed that the density of compressed sample increased with the rise of the compression ratio and less than 5% without relation to the compression direction. The shrinkage coefficients of compressed sample increased gradually with the increase of the compression rate while the coefficients of shrinkage of tangential compression increased more than that of radial compression. The range of all shrinkage rates was from-3.448% to 23.678%.
