Free radicals play a key role when wood is activated by laccase to gain self-adhesion.The relative intensities of reactive oxygen species(ROS)free radicals generated when woodflour was incubated with laccase at different pH values, incubation temperatures, dosages of laccase, periods of incubation and wood species were investigated. The effect of these factors on the relative intensities of ROS free radicals was analyzed and discussed. The results showed that there was an extraordinarily significant difference in the relative intensities of ROS free radicals at different factorial levels. The optimum value was reached when the woodflour of Pinus kesiya heartwood was treated for 4 hours of incubation,pH 4,enzyme dosage of 1.5 U/g woodflour and incubation temperature of 60℃ were used. The current research lays the theoretical foundations of the upcoming optimization of processing parameters for the manufacture of fiberboards by laccase-catalyzed oxidation of wood fibers.
