The authors introduced the concept of the Enterprise Resource Planning System （ERP） and explained the necessity of applying a management information system to Chinese furniture manufacturing companies. Under the guidance of ERP theory and based on C/S （Client/Server） structure, the authors developed a management information system for furniture manufacturing companies. A blue print for the design work flow and main functional modules of the system were described. The anthors also presented the details of technological design for the software.
