After reviewing the current status of the wood industry in China, the author stresses that it is critical for the Chinese wood processing companies to build their own raw material bases and to adjust production towards economic scales. He also suggests that the Chinese wood （products） manufacturers use information technology to develop diversified products, adopt modern （management） skills and establish brand names, so as to expand both domestic and international markets and to attain a sustainable and sound industry.
