In this paper, some factors affecting the strength of corner joint structure in particleboard furniture have been investigated. The results indicated that the strength of corner joints increased with the increase, of thickness, density, moisture content, MOR and IB of the board, and that the measure of coefficient of variability (COV) for MOR and IB of the board would play a more important role in the stability and strength of corner Structure in furniture. The strength of resistance of deflection in 1°of the corner structure jointed with butt-dowel and the rupture, strength of the corner structure jointed with screws and metalcassing-were higher than that of other types of joints. The test showed that the strength of corner structure under pressure and with detachable joints was lower than that with fixed joints. Therefore, the particleboard with low COV should be used in designing the corner structure of furniture and the joint structure under pulling load should be given a special attention.
