Experiments were conducted on evaluating machining performance（including planning,turning,sanding,shaping,drilling,and mortising）of imported Mahogany and Radiate pine wood from plantation forests according to LY/T 2054-2012 "Methods for evaluating machining properties of lumber".The results showed as follows:most of the machining performance of Mahogany and Radiate Pine wood samples were in excellent grade except drilling property,which was in fair and middle grade,respectively.The machining performance of Mahogany wood was generally better than that of Radiate pine wood.Both Mahogany and Radiate pine wood were excellent for making furniture and other solid wood products.
