British standards were used to investigate and evaluate slip potential for 80 batches of wooden flooring products, with different decorative materials, since there are no relevant Chinese standards available. Slip potential of a clean surface, a water contaminated surface and a cooking oil contaminated surface were tested, respectively. The results showed that surface medium was the major factor to effect slip resistance. Slip resistance of varnished wood flooring was superior to that of laminated flooring. Assembly style had little contribution to slip resistance.
