As an advanced manufacturing technology, laser is widely used in material processing and modification due to its high energy density, monochromaticity and good directivity. The authors summarized principles, application types and characteristics of laser processing in wood processing and wood-based materials manufacturing and explored potentials for laser modification and processing in order to provide references to laser processing technology for improving efficiency of wood processing and performance of wood materials
