Urea-formaldehyde Adhesives Mixed with Modified Corn-starch Glue for Making Reconstituted Decorative Veneers
In order to better make reconstituted decorative veneers, a traditionally used urea-formaldehyde resin(UF) was mixed with modified corn-starch emulsions and then reinforced with a polyvinyl acetate emulsion(PVAc), an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), an anionic polyacrylamide(APAM) as well as polymethylene polyphenyl isocyanate(PAPI). The results showed that the newly made veneers with the modified adhesive had better flexibility than the controls with less formaldehyde emission.
