Influences of Crosslink Usage on Structure of Nanocellulose Cross-linked Aerogels
In order to develop functional aerogel materials, wood pulp fiber(WPF)/cellulose nanocrystals(CNC) crosslinked aerogels were prepared by using 1, 2, 3, 4-butanetetracarboxylic acid(BTCA) as the crosslinking material. The authors then investigated the degree of cross-linking due to morphology, specific surface area, pore structure, crystallization and chemical structure of the aerogels. The results showed that the aerogels had a three-dimensional network structure formed by intertwined WPF and CNC,and the WPF was surrounded by nanofibers formed by the CNC. BTCA crosslinking had a significant effect on the structure and properties of the aerogels. As the crosslinking material increased, crystallinity, specific surface area and pore volume of the aerogels decreased.
