The authors conducted a series of experiments to evaluate feasibilities of making scrimber from low density wood, such as Paulownia, Populus and Salix species. The technological characteristics and properties of the scrimber were tested. The results showed that these three kinds of wood are suitable for making scrimber, when density ratio of the scrimber to solid wood was around 2.50, water resistance of paulownia scrimber was the best, modulus of rupture(MOR) and modulus of elasticity(MOE) of populusscrimber were the highest, and horizontal shear strength of salix scrimber was the biggest.
