The authors conducted an experiment using laminated veneer lumber（LVL）with 4,8, mm of thick veneers from fast-grown poplar and eucalyptus wood. The results showed that the LVL strength such as modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and shear strength all decreased with increasing veneer thickness, but still met the requirements of the National Standard GB/T 20241-2006. Moreover, the LVL made by thicker veneers could save glue consumption compared with conventional LVL.
