This paper analyzed wood thermal modification technologies in Europe.Atmospheric steam treating technology is mainly used and typically represented by Thermowood technology with features such as relatively simple process,low investment cost,diverse equipment supply and high unit output.Pressurized steam process has the advantage of shorter treating time and lower treating temperature.Vacuum process can guarantee uniform product quality with easy equipment maintenance.For the combined process,small-volume equipment can achieve high production capacity by optimal equipment combination and process design.
