Evaluation on Wood Machining Properties of Four Valuable Hardwood Species from Forest Plantations in China
To determine wood machining properties of valuable hardwood species for high valueadded utilization of solid wood products, planning, sanding, shaping, boring, turning and mortising of Cinnamomum camphora,Juglans mandshurica,Schima superba and Liriodendron chinense from foreat plantations in China were evaluated respectively, according to Chinese forestry industrial standard LY/T 2054-2012.The results showed that the comprehensive machining properties of Cinnamomum camphora,Schima superba and Liriodendron chinense were better than that of Juglans mandshurica.Furthermore, wood planning quality of the four selected species decreased as the increase of cutting depth and feed rate. The influence of feed rate on planning quality was greater than that of cutting depth.
