Crushed Bamboo-Mat Composite as Affected by Dyeing Medium and Temperature
This study investigated the influences of a dyeing treatment on color change and performance of crushed bamboo-mat composites made from Phyflostachys pubescens.Bamboo fibrosis veneers were dyed in three temperature conditions(20,75 and 90°C)and two kinds of dispersion medium(water and alcohol). It was found that the samples dyed in alcohol at 75°C and in water at 90°C showed higher dye-uptake rates. The dyeing treatment slightly reduced MOR and MOE and improved water resistance of the composite. For better color and mechanical properties, dyeing bamboo fibrosis veneers in alcohol at 75°C was suggested.
