Effect of Phenol Formaldehyde Resin Solids Content on Properties of Impregnated Pinus massoniana Lumber
Pinus massoniana lumber was impregnated with low molecular weight phenol formaldehyde resins, with different solids contents,to improve its physical and mechanical properties.A vacuum-pressure process was used to impregnate the lumber. The results showed that dimensional stability, modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and hardness of the test samples were all increased after impregnation with different concentrations of PF resin from 10%to 30%.However,toughness of the samples decreased as the resin weight gain increased.
