Performance of Phenol Formaldehyde Resin Partially Substituted with Larix gmelinii Bark Pyrolytic-Tar
Pyrolytic-tar made from Larix gmelinii bark was used as a partial substitution for phenol to reduce cost of phenol-formaldehyde(PF)adhesive and increase utilization efficiency of wood waste. The effects of substitution rate,formaldehyde/phenol molar ratio and sodium hydroxide content on the bonding strength of plywood as well as the adhesive costs were evaluated. The results showed that the bonding performance of plywood made with the pyrolytic-tar modified PF resin could meet the Chinese National Standards GB/T 9846.3-2004 required for I-level plywood.
