Bonding Performance and Failure of Finger-jointed and Edge-glued Panels
Edge-glued panels made from Tsuga heteophylla,Hevea brasiliensis and Carya spp.were tested for bonding, shearing, and bending performance. The results showed: 1) the edge-glued samples, after the immersion delamination test, met the type Ⅰ requirements specified in the National Standard GB/T 21140-2007,but the finger-jointed samples failed to meet the type Ⅱ requirements entirely.2) the average shearing strength of edge-glued samples was about 5.0% less than the average solid wood shearing strength parallel to grain.3) the average bending strength of the finger-jointed samples was about 26.2%,7,7.9% of the solid wood bending strength.
