The authors studied the effect of heat treatment on the machinability of Mongolian oak.Compared with untreated samples,heat-treated wood samples exhibited lower cutting-tool temperature and generated more fine dust during the milling process. The smoothness of the heat-treated samples was statistically the same as the untreated samples. The results will hopefully provide some insight into optimizing the milling process.
