In order to improve the surface properties of reconstituted decorative poplar flooring, the authors impregnated the flooring in water-soluble low molecular phenol-formaldehyde(PF) resin and then hot-pressed it. The results indicate that longer impregnation time improves surface abrasion resistance, impact resistance, surface hardness, and bending performance. It was noticed that phenol-formaldehyde resin with magnesium oxide and silicon dioxide can improve the wear resistance and impact resistance of the flooring.
