Manufacture Technique of Salix-Based Composites for Concrete Forms
To explore new opportunities of utilizing salix (of the willow family) wood, the authors made salix-based composite panels, overlaid with PF impregnated paper faced veneer or PF impregnated fiberboard, for a concrete molding application. They investigated the effect of processing conditions on the composite’s performance. The results showed that the optimal process conditions were: 12% adhesive and 160 ℃ press temperature for 0.9 min/mm panel thickness. The salix panels produced under these optimal conditions had performance similar to the specifications of comparable products.
