Effect of Heat Exchange Area on Energy Consumption in Conventional Wood Drying Kiln
To improve wood drying kiln efficiency, the following conditions in conventional dry kilns were analyzed for this paper: wall structure, wall insulation, heat exchanger vapor temperature, air velocity, heat exchanger area and temperature and weather conditions in different areas of China. The results showed that kiln walls, wall insulation, and vapor temperature inside the heat exchanger played important roles for reducing energy consumption.Kilns in cold regions required more heat exchangers than in warm regions. It was found that the air velocity also affected heat exchanger performance.
