Effects of Log Diameter and Grading on Grade Recovery of Dimension Lumber
An experimental investigation was conducted in this study to optimize the process of manufacturing dimension lumber with live-sawing and cant-sawing methods. Effects of log diameter and grading on lumber grade recovery were analyzed. The results showed both log grade and diameter, along with sawing methods, significantly affected the quality and grade of the produced dimension lumber. We found that the log grade needed to be No.2 or above and the diameter should be 26,2,8 cm or higher to assure high lumber grade and yield recovery.
