Effect of Reactive Dye on Bonding Performance of Dyed Poplar Veneers
Reactive dye, being friendly to both environment and human health,is now used in the wood industry to replace acid-based dye materials. However, limited research has led to the understanding of the effect of reactive dye on the surface characteristics of wood veneers. Poplar veneer was used in this study to investigate wettability, surface quality, and bonding strength after being treated with the reactive dye. The results showed that after the reactive dye treatment the poplar veneer had more surface pits and improved bonding strength.
