Moisture absorption and thickness swell of heat-treated solid wood flooring samples and conventional dried flooring samples were studied under 3 simulated indoor conditions: summer in southern China(26 ℃ and 80% relative humidity),winter in northern China with common heating system(22 ℃ and 42% relative humidity),and winter with an under floor heating system(25 ℃ and 25% relative humidity). The results showed that heat-treated flooring samples exhibited better dimensional stability than the conventionally dried flooring subjected to the indoor conditions of northern China. However, these same samples absorbed more moisture and had greater thickness swell when subjected to southern China’s humid environment. The results were expected to provide some basic information for manufacturers to establish their product specifications.
