Wood-Ceramic Samples Made from Poplar Fiber Impregnated with Phenol-Formaldehyde Resin
Development of wood-ceramic products made from poplar fiber impregnated with phenol-formaldehyde resin was investigated in this study. It was found that the three-dimensional structure of wood-ceramic samples was very similar to the one of a typical natural wood. The crystallization and the tendency of graphitization increased considerably with the raise of the sintering temperature. The results showed that the compressive strength, elastic modulus, and abrasion resistance of the wood ceramic samples improved dramatically when the resin contents and sintering temperature increased, especially for the sintering temperature between 500℃ and 800℃.The apparent density and porosity also increased when the resin content and sintering temperature increased, but the electrical resistance rapidly decreased.
