Wood-based flooring products have been one of the fastest growing sectors among wood products for the past two decades.The monotonic increases of wood-based flooring demand and sales from 2000 to 2007 indicate a faster growth rate in the near future.This paper reviewed the history of China’s wood-based flooring industry and presented the current status of its production,consumption,processing innovation,product quality,and sale distribution.Shortage of raw material supply,lack of product innovation,and irregular market competition were identified as key problems in the industry.Industrial consolidation,processing improvement,product innovation,and further domestic and international market development were considered as the long-term strategy for China’s wood-based flooring industry in the future.
