Technological Variables on Properties of Molded Bamboo Particleboard
The residues from two typical sympodial bamboos (Dendrocalamus giganteus and D. membranaceus) from Yunnan Province were selected to make molded particleboards. The molding technology included two steps, first prepressing and then hot pressing. The molded bamboo particleboards were then analyzed for the effects of bamboo species, glue consumption and mat density. Results confirmed that the two-step molding process was suitable for manufacturing molded bamboo particleboard. The performance properties of this particleboard were better than the molded particleboard made from Acacia under the same processing conditions. The results demonstrated a practical processing technology and reference for further sympodial bamboo utilization, such as decorative panel manufacturing.
