Wearability and Other Mechanical Properties of Woodceramics
In this paper, the wearability and other mechanical properties, such as bending strength, elastic modulus, surface hardness and compression strength of woodceramics (WCS) were determined. The effects of a dipping treatment with phenol formaldehyde (PF) resin and a fire retardant on properties of WCS were also analyzed by sweep electron microscope (SEM). The results showed: 1) it was good for WCS wearability when treated by PF resin; 2) the bending strength and elastic modulus of WCS could be improved by increasing the PF resin concentration; 3) WCS surface hardness mainly depended on the PF resin concentration, rather than its sintering temperature; 4) WCS compression strength could be increased along with raising of PF resin concentration or sintering temperature; 5) the fire retardant would be effective to raise the char yield, but not improve WCS’ mechanical properties.
