This paper reviewed the status of China’s forest resources, wood supply, and demand. The study concluded that the way to solve the wood material shortage problem is to establish industrial plantations of fastgrowing tree species. It was further suggested that in order to encourage individuals or peasants to plant trees, a series of favorable government policies and administrative measures should be implemented.
