A double pressing method was designed to produce 8 types of board, a total number of 24 post heat treated PF bonded particleboards. After hot pressing, the board was treated in second press with 170℃ for 10 or 20 minutes to allow sufficient heat transfer. The measurement of physical properties of boards were carried out. The results suggest that thickness swell and irrecoverable swell of the boards can be significantly reduced to very low levels, with a 10 minutes treatment. The superior board properties are possibly due to futher stress relaxation through mechano-sorptive creep and the alkali and thermal plasticisation in the wood glue lines.
